DIGITAL FIRST ENGAGEMENT ON PADDINGTON REDEVELOPMENT

DIGITAL FIRST ENGAGEMENT ON PADDINGTON REDEVELOPMENT

Paddington Green Police Station
City of Westminster

Service areas:
Concilio Consult, Concilio Connect.

Concilio were appointed in July 2020 to conduct a comprehensive consultation and public affairs role for Berkeley Homes and their proposals for Paddington Green Police Station, Westminster. Proposals include 550 new homes, new flexible commercial space and affordable workspace. Concilio offered support via two services areas Concilio Consult and Concilio Connect.

Given the high-profile nature of the site there are a number of political and community stakeholders who would take a keen interest in the site. With significant experience working in the City of Westminster, Concilio produced a comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy.

The timing of the consultation took place during national lockdowns and all had to be conducted via a ‘remote-first’ engagement strategy, making use of Concilio’s bespoke digital consultation tool ‘Your Say’. This enabled us to host a thorough consultation that allowed all interested parties the opportunity to study, question and engage with the proposals.

Over a period of 7 months, more than 15 meetings were arranged with political and community representatives, more than 100 surveys were completed, the consultation website had more than 1000+ views and social media adverts were viewed more than 60,000 times. We also advertised the consultation to the local community via a traditional flyer to more than 6,000 properties.

As part of two rounds of consultation, Concilio also hosted four webinars which included a presentation from the project team and a live Q&A session with registered viewers. The recordings have been viewed nearly 200 times allowing a much wider audience to be reached.

The application was submitted to Westminster City Council in April 2021 and is due to be determined later in the year.
