Concilio has launched a public consultation on behalf of Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (MTVH) on plans to build 630 homes on the site of the Former Shredded Wheat Factory in Welwyn Garden City.MTVH, who own the south side of the Former Shredded Wheat Factory, are already building Phase One of the development which will provide 208 affordable homes.
MTVH are now consulting with the local community on their plans for Phase Two and Three which will provide 630 homes alongside extensive landscaping and green spaces. The Site benefits from an extant planning consent from 2019, which approved the creation of a mixed-use quarter, including 1,340 residential dwellings in a mix of tenures alongside a range of other uses including health, community, office, leisure and retail.
MTVH submitted an application last year for Phases Two and Three but following further discussions with Officers at the Council and taking on board comments raised by consultees during the application process, have now revised their submitted plans.Concilio have created a bespoke website and hosted a webinar and two in-person exhibitions on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd and Saturday 5th February. The webinar was attended by 50 people and over 150 people visited the exhibitions over the two days.
Over the coming months, Concilio will look to engage further with key stakeholders and the local community ahead of a planning submission to Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.
