The new homes, including new affordable homes, will meet local needs and help create a vibrant, inclusive community. I support the plans to improve Queensway Parade, turning a poor-quality, underused building into a high-quality mixed-use development that will lift the streetscape and help regenerate the area. The design adds low-carbon technologies, at the forefront of energy-efficient systems and design, and biodiversity features for lasting environmental benefits, creating a building that is built for modern standards and futureproofed. It will bring a carefully selected mix of retail to boost the local economy, increase shopping choice, and draw more people to nearby businesses. Whilst retaining essential community amenities such as the Tesco supermarket. Public realm and accessibility improvements will make the area safer (with particular attention to security within Cervantes Court), more attractive, and more welcoming for everyone. The project will deliver meaningful social and economic benefits – creating homes and jobs, attracting investment, and supporting the long-term regeneration and vitality of the neighbourhood. Delivering a building that is of high-quality design with sustainable materials commensurate to the opposite Whiteley restoration works and adding architectural merit that is sensitive and contextual to the regeneration of Queensway
