The 2026 local elections in Westminster are fast approaching, with the full list of candidates now published and Labour, the Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats, Reform and the Greens all fielding full slates across every ward. With the emergence of a more fragmented, multi-party landscape, third parties are increasingly shaping outcomes in marginal contests. While control of the council is still likely to come down to a traditional Conservative–Labour battle, the Greens, Reform and Liberal Democrats may play a decisive role.
Westminster is set to be one of the most high-profile and closely contested boroughs in London. Labour took control of the council for the first time in 2022, and the Conservatives are now targeting a return to power.
Both main parties in the City of Westminster have now published their manifestos, setting out competing priorities for planning, growth and the future of the West End. With policy platforms clear and 7 May fast approaching, the direction of the council is firmly in play.
At Concilio, we have sought to go beyond the headlines to provide clarity on what the next four years in Westminster could look like.
In our latest Westminster Elections Insight Report, you will find statements from the two main parties competing to lead the council, setting out their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities ahead, alongside a detailed ward-by-ward analysis and an assessment of the impact of third parties.
