Concilio Hosts Southwark Roundtable with Cllr Sarah King
Concilio brought together investors and consultants from across London’s built environment for a lunchtime roundtable
20 November 2025
On Wednesday 19th November, Concilio brought together investors and consultants from across London’s built environment for a lunchtime roundtable at Tower Bridge, joined by Councillor Sarah King, the new Labour Leader of Southwark Council.

The discussion focused on delivering real outcomes for local people. Cllr King emphasised that Southwark is less interested in the “product” of development and more in delivery, particularly homes that key workers and residents can genuinely afford. Attendees also reflected on successful regeneration across the borough, including the progress at Canada Water.

We were also pleased to welcome Steve Platts, Director of Planning and Growth at LB Southwark, who set out where momentum is building again in the borough and how the planning service is sharpening its focus on timely, proactive decision-making.

Emerging housing models, including co-living, were discussed as part of the wider toolkit for tackling the housing crisis: not a silver bullet, but a model that can help broaden housing choice in the right places.

Across the table, there was clear alignment on the importance of strong partnerships, resident-first engagement, and a practical, delivery-focused approach to the borough’s next chapter.
