Proposals for the International Trading Estate, Southall

Proposals for the International Trading Estate, Southall

Global Technical Realty (GTR) has been consulting on plans for a new world-class data centre campus, high-quality industrial spaces, affordable workspace and food and beverage facilities at the International Trading Estate, Southall.

GTR’s proposal is to regenerate the International Trading Estate to create a much-needed new data centre capacity hub, with new industrial workspace, serving London and the wider UK’s digital economy and placing the area at the heart of the UK’s digital economy growth as well as local businesses and the local community. The campus will also provide high quality employment space, affordable workspace alongside food and beverage facilities, improved access to the site, set within a safer, greener and more attractive public space.

The proposals will deliver a number of benefits for Southall. Apart from contributing to the UK’s data storage capacity, a key growth area, our proposals have been designed to support the local community.

The proposals will create new jobs for local people. In the data centres, jobs will be geared to the future, providing Southall will employment opportunities in a key growth area, supporting the long-term prospects of the local area.

The new industrial units will support local businesses with ultra-modern, high-specification workspace. This will allow occupiers to perform at their best, supporting growth in the local economy and providing Southall with skilled jobs for the future.

Concilio’s Engagement and Consultation Overview

Concilio has supported GTR on this project, undertaking extensive community engagement to gather feedback on the proposals. The team have already completed two rounds of consultation and are set to launch a third. The consultation has been publicised using local flyer distribution and social media advertising, and has included public exhibitions, feedback surveys and meetings with key stakeholders. Existing site tenants have also been updated throughout, before any information has been made public, and several meetings have taken place to date.
