Concilio Eastern Region lead Katie Brown was joined by the Head of Planning at Carter Jonas, Colin Brown, aka Dad, to discuss the Government’s recent Cambridge 2040.

Amongst the topics discussed are:

• The need for a short-medium term solution to the water scarcity issue to unlock development in meantime until a longer-term solution can be found.
• Gove’s new “super-squad” of planners and the need for a better overall level of resourcing for the planning system.
• The importance of avoiding the repetition of past mistakes where areas were developed without necessary high-quality public transport infrastructure in place.
• The need to foster supportive industries and businesses within sectors like mid-tech, possibly situated outside of the city, to bolster a thriving economic zone in Cambridge.
• What our advice would be to the Cambridge Delivery Group.
